2016 Frieda P. Smith
As believers on the Lord Jesus Christ, we get excited when we are reminded of the blessings that await us here on earth and when this earthly life has ended.
For example, Revelation 21:7 reads, “All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.”
However, in the very next verse, the Apostle John wrote these words, “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars–their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
What captured my attention on today was not the “sinners” we usually tend to focus our attention on; you know, the unsaved, the murderers, the immoral, etc.
Nope. Look at the last one on the list: All liars.
The reason this captured my attention is because people–in high places and low places–are lying on a daily basis like it is all right! It seems as if very few people are interested in the truth, about God or anything for that matter.
However, lying (declaring things that are not true) will land you in the burning, stinking lake (sulfur stinks!), along with the cowards and the unbelievers and the corrupt and the immoral and those who practice witchcraft and the idol worshipers.
Is this how you want to spend your eternity? In a stinking place with stinking folks?
This is serious.
