Proverbs 12:1

2016 Frieda P. Smith

Back in middle school, I had a teacher who made this declaration during his introductory speech on our first day of school, “I may not always be right, but I’m never wrong.”

For some reason, I never forgot what he said that morning, for as I make my way through life, there are people I encounter who adhere to this saying.

However, the writer of Proverbs 12:1 has a word for us on today, “Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge. But he who hates correction is stupid.”

My friends, none of us are right all of the time. We all make mistakes. We all have misjudgments. We all have misdeeds. We all take missteps.

When we do, we need correction. A little “straightening out” as our elders used to call it!

Remember: A little correction of a steering wheel has averted many a casualty.

Embrace correction!

Don’t be stupid.
