Do not Panic. Just Wait.

Psalm 37:9

2015 Frieda P. Smith

Every day the news becomes more disturbing. At one time, it was relatively safe for law-abiding citizens to leave the house without fear of encountering gun violence. Now, it seems nowhere is safe anymore.

Bible Study on Wednesday night.

The movies.

High Schools and College campuses.

Concerts and restaurants.

The doctor’s office.

A holiday party.

Sadly, it is even dangerous to be pulled over for a routine traffic stop by the police.

It is enough to make a person want to stay home.

However, violence is nothing new. War is nothing new.  The only thing that has changed is the weaponry and the ammunition.

What has not changed is the Word of God.

King David wrote these words in Psalm 37:9, “For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.”

People of God, some of us are experiencing for the first time what many people have been living with for years.

Let us not forget that some of us are descendants of slaves who suffered bitter cruelty right here in America, but our God delivered them, and He will deliver us!

My friend, your faith is being put to the test. Things are starting to look dark, but I am telling you from experience: God is faithful and He will deliver (Psalm 34:19).

Do not panic; Just wait.
