1st Corinthians 15:57
2015 Frieda P. Smith
On this Thanksgiving morning, the Lord dropped word in my spirit, written by the Apostle Paul to the church at Corinth, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
As many of you know, 2015 has been the most challenging of my entire life. Not only have I struggled through several life-threatening illnesses, but also so has my daughter, Zaneta.
However, we were not the only ones struggling; my youngest daughter, Rachelle (who just turned 19), had to face the possibility on more than one occasion that her mother or sister may not survive.
Yet, we endured, because God gave us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Notice I used the word, “endured”. It means to undergo a hardship without giving in. We are still standing, still giving God glory, still dancing, still encouraging others, because of what God did!
God gave us the victory!
Additionally, God gave us people who helped us in so many ways navigate this season of affliction.
I thank God for my Rehoboth Christian Church Family, for continuing to take care of me when I was in no condition to take care of you.
For those who shall remain unnamed, you know who you are. You are the one who called and harassed the doctor’s office until I saw the doctor I needed to see. You are the ones who came to see about us when everyone else stopped visiting. You sent the text out of nowhere, reminding us that you was praying for us. You called or sent a card or letter of encouragement. You drove me to my appointments when I was not supposed to be driving. You paid for my daughter’s airplane ticket so she could be at Zaneta’s bedside when she was on life support. You shipped food to our front door. You called our names out in prayer at your church. You packed the rest of my belongings in my house when I could not get there to do it myself.
You know who you are.
Today is Thanksgiving.
For you, we give God thanks.
