You Have Power! Use it!

Acts 1:8

2015 Frieda P. Smith

I was talking yesterday with one of my associate ministers, who was much younger when she would watch as I would anoint the sick with oil or cast demons out of people who were possessed. She asked, “Pastor, what do you do to get prepared to do that?” I said, “Nothing. I have power.  I just use it!”

In 1st chapter of the book of Acts, after Jesus’ resurrection He had a meeting with His disciples. He was about to depart to return to the Father, but before His departure, Jesus advised them, as recorded in Acts 1:8, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you…”

The only thing the disciples had to do to receive the power was go to Jerusalem and wait for the arrival of the Holy Spirit. That was it.

They did not have to fast for 40 days or lay on the floor covered in sackcloth and ashes.

They did not have to run around the altar seven times.

They did not have to sow a $1000 seed.

They experienced Pentecost.  They knew they had the power of the Holy Spirit, so they went forth and used it!

My friends, when you sincerely (notice I said sincerely) surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, your body became the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 7:16). Therefore, you are walking around with power!  Just use it!

You have power to put the enemy and his little imps to flight.  Use it!

You have power to change the negative atmosphere in your house or on your job.  Use it!

You have power! Use It!
