God is Watching and He is Listening!
1st Peter 3:12
2015 Frieda P. Smith
Can we keep it real? There are people in our lives—if we were not saved—who would put our true salvation to the test on a daily basis!
Let’s get real. There are those of us who were in church for years but were “masquerading.” We went to the front of the church one Sunday and told the preacher we wanted to be saved. We were baptized but we never repented from our former lifestyles. We were masquerading as Christians.
On Sunday mornings, we were in church, but on Saturday nights, we were in the club, drinking, dancing, and carrying on. That following Sunday morning we were at the altar, crying and swearing on a stack of Bibles we were going to change, but when the phone rang the following Saturday night, we were ready to go! We were masquerading as Christians.
But glory to God, one day we stopped masquerading and were serious about our walk with Jesus Christ. We repented and changed our behavior. The things we used to do, we stopped doing. The things we used to say, we stopped saying.
It is a good thing, my friends, because as I was reading the text that is the foundation of this inspirational message found in 1st Peter 3:12, the word says, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers”.
People of God, according to the scripture, God’s eyes and ears are on “the righteous;” those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. (See Romans 5:19). Our sinful nature created a separation between God and ourselves. However, Jesus’ sacrificial death at Calvary atoned for our sins once and for all, and brought those of us who accepted Jesus into right standing with God. Therefore, God is watching and He is listening! Praise God!
1st Peter 3:12 says, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous”. It is a blessing and a relief to know that God is paying attention to what is going on in our lives. I know there are times we may feel alone or if no one really cares, but the Word reminds us that God is watching out for us all the time!
God is watching when everyone else has dozed off! What a God!
Finally, 1st Peter 3:12 says, “His ears are open to their prayers”.
Not only is God watching, but God is also listening.
If there is a need just about every human being has, it is the need to be heard. People engage in arguments and disputes because of the need to be heard. To tell the truth, one of the most rewarding, fruitful, and personally beneficial fifty minutes I have ever spent in my life have been with a mental health therapist. Why? Because I talked and they listened! It was marvelous! (You should try it sometimes!)
Likewise, God listens to our prayers, which by the way is our communication with Him. It does not have to be anything deep and formal. Any time we talk with Him, that is prayer.
As long as we are not evildoers, He is listening.
Go ahead. Talk to God about your problems. Talk to Him about your children. Tell Him about your financial troubles. Talk to God about your relationship. Talk to God as if you were talking to your best friend. God is listening. Talk to Him.
Regardless of what you are going through, be encouraged on today.
God is watching and God is listening!
