Greetings! This is my very first blog. I have been a minister since 1995 but due to pulmonary sarcoidosis I have been unable speak due to shortness of breath. So, not to be defeated, I decided to use this medium to continue to share my inspirational messages with anyone out there who needs to hear a word of encouragement! Hope you enjoy this one!

Scripture Text: Matthew 21:22
Subject: “GET A LIFE!”
“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Some of us have spent years in prayer lines, on prayer calls, attending prayer conferences, eating at prayer breakfasts, but have left without having our prayers answered.
If we would get honest for a moment, we would admit in these times in which we are living, most of us find ourselves spending more and more time distracted by the things that interfere with our spiritual growth and development, and some of these distractions have even hindered our ability to get our prayers answered!
For example, when Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, He had their undivided attention. They hung unto His every word. They witnessed the miracles. They watched the demons flee. They saw the lame walk.
Interestingly, verse 12 reads, “Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those of sold doves. (13) And He said to them, ‘It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves’.”
I did not intend to stop here, but what in the world would Jesus do if He stopped in and visited our churches today? Very few of us attend church without our cell phones. There was once a time when God could get our undivided attention when we arrived in His House; those days are over! People are posting statuses on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, while the pastor is preaching or the minister is praying! They are no longer paying attention to the Word that is being preached or taught because they are too busy focusing on things that people are doing who are not in church! If Jesus stepped foot in our churches today, He would have a fit!
People of God, there are reasons why our prayers are not being answered…we need to Get a Life: A Prayer Life!
In our text, Jesus uttered eleven very powerful words in the presence of His disciples: “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Jesus said, “Whatever things you ask in prayer…” Come on, let’s be real. Many of us do not have a prayer life anymore. We spend more time online than we do in prayer. We spend more time playing games on our cell phones and tablets than we do in prayer, communicating with God our Father. Candy Crush and Words with Friends gets more time than God does. Get real and get delivered.
Secondly, Jesus said, “Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing…” Many of us pray, but we do not believe what we are praying for will come to pass. We don’t believe our marriages can be restored. We don’t believe our bodies will be healed. We don’t believe our children will be saved. We don’t believe our ministries will be fruitful. Truthfully, what is the point of praying if we do not believe our prayers will be answered?
But Glory to God, when we get a prayer life and believe God regardless of what it looks like, God will begin to move on our on faith! Faith moves God!
Finally, Jesus declared, “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Notice Jesus did not say, “you might receive”…Jesus didn’t say, “I’ll think about it.” No! Jesus in essence said, “If you get off your cell phone, get off Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and get a life…get on your knees…Get a prayer life and dare to ask for whatever things you desire, believing regardless of what it looks like; believing regardless of what the doctor said; believing regardless of what your situation looks like; believing in spite of what the judge said; you will receive!”
Anyone need a prayer answered? It is time to switch up! Get off the phone, get a prayer life, and watch God move!
